Our HDPE gas pipe’s increased working stress rating allows for thinner walls for a given operating pressure.
Teel’s high-density polyethylene gas pipe is made to ASTM D2513 standards and is compliant with PHMSA DOT CFR 49 part 192 requirements for regulated gas distribution operations. It is made from 4710 HDPE material that resists slow crack growth, rapid crack propagation, UV degradation, and most gas solvents and chemicals and meets performance standards for gas applications up to 125 psi.
It is tougher than MDPE pipe, allowing for thinner walls at the same pressure rating and maintains its resistance to SCF and rapid crack failure. Along with its increased strength, HDPE also maintains considerable flexibility, aiding in installation. It is compatible with all standard joining techniques, including ASTM F2620.
