Teel recently completed its first two cleanup events as part of Wisconsin’s Adopt-A-Highway program, removing litter along our newly adopted stretch of Highway 136 between Baraboo and Reedsburg. We’re grateful to the members of the Teel team who volunteered their time and look forward to continuing to keep our stretch of Highway 136 clean in the future.
Teel’s efforts were led by Environmental Health and Safety Coordinator Rachel Perkins. “I have always loved being outdoors, whether it’s hiking, fishing, or simply enjoying nature,” Perkins said. “After learning about Teel’s commitment to becoming more environmentally responsible, I saw an opportunity to make a difference from within.”
Perkins’ passion for environmental stewardship and strong, environmentally-focused educational background motivated her to strengthen Teel’s environmental commitment by recommending Adopt-A Highway.
“I also wanted our community to see that while we make plastic products, we care about protecting the environment,” Perkins said. “That’s why I believe adopting a highway is such a great initiative. It allows us to give back to the community, demonstrate our commitment to the environment, and inspire others to help keep our natural spaces clean.”
Rachel’s initiative and the efforts of the numerous Teel team volunteers serve as a reminder that protecting the environment often begins with simple actions that, multiplied across a team or community, can have a meaningful impact.
“No one enjoys spending time outdoors surrounded by litter, and even small efforts can make a lasting impact,” Perkins said.
Through initiatives like these, Teel continues to invest in the well-being of its community while supporting a cleaner, healthier environment.
