Teel Plastics Gives to St. Clare Foundation, Strengthening Local Health Care Services

BARABOO, WI; February 1, 2012 -- As the manufacturer of extruded health care tubing products, Jay Smith knows about advances in medical technology. As a local employer, he values the importance of accessible medical care for his employees. And as a business leader, he sees quality health care services as an indicator of the local economy’s vitality.

So, when Teel Plastics made a gift recently to the St. Clare Health Care Foundation to sponsor medical equipment for St. Clare Hospital’s Emergency Department, Smith explained, “The Baraboo area is the home of Teel Plastics, its employees and their families. The strength of Baraboo as a community is important to us. One measure of that strength is the ability for residents of this community to receive quality health care. A community without good health care is not sustainable. St. Clare is a full-service, accredited hospital, which includes a trauma center. They are clearly doing what is needed to provide a high level of care. I believe they are a leader in rural health care.”

Teel Plastics’ gift is helping sponsor a Glide Scope for the hospital’s Emergency Department. A Glide Scope is a lifesaving device that aids in the insertion of a breathing tube into a patient’s airway.

“St. Clare Hospital’s emergency care today is a high-quality service, as the physicians are emergency residency-trained,” Smith further explained. “It’s important to keep it that way by making sure they have the right tools to work with, and we want to do our part. Teel Plastics and its employees use many of the services that St. Clare has to offer. It is a blessing to have this resource at our doorstep.”
